Falco Biotherapeutics is a privately held biopharmaceutical company, focused on the development of ElCams™. ElCams™ are a new generation of novel therapeutic, diagnostic and prophylactic protein-based health care products. They are designed to satisfy unmet patient needs and to improve medical practice. ElCams™ are based on our proprietary affinity technology which allows us to create low molecular weight proteins, that combine the selectivity and affinity of monoclonal antibodies with advantages of small molecules drugs. We are building a product pipeline with drug candidates for the treatment of inflammatory disorders and infectious diseases.

The ElCams™ approach

ElCams™ are small affinity proteins that combine the selectivity and affinity of antibodies with some very
important qualities of small molecule drugs. ElCams™ are designed de novo:
the affinity scaffolds that form the basis of ElCams™ are not derived from antibodies or antibody fragments.

ElCams™ have some unique design features. As a result, they are very stable and can, for example, withstand extreme conditions.

For example, ElCams™ have the potential to withstand the harsh environment of the gastrointestinal tract. This would facilitate the treatment of a variety of gastrointestinal disorders.

Due to their small size, ElCams™ may also expand the range of therapeutic targets that can be addressed, in particular those that cannot be reached effectively by monoclonal antibodies. Their small size can also improved tissue penetration.

ElCams™ are also extremely easy to manufacture by microbial fermentation. Combined with their extreme stability and potentially long shelf-life, this creates opportunities for formulations that hitherto were not commercially feasible, such as topical applications.
